DVSX and Empire Video Unveil XCartel

CHATSWORTH, Calif. – A clutch of industry veterans have announced the official launch of XCartel, a distribution company based on the idea of empowering producers and directors with more financial control over their product lines, while at the same time providing competitive packaging and distribution services.

Based on the concept of a “cartel,” which by definition is a combination of independent business organizations formed to regulate production, pricing and the marketing of goods, the newly formed company is the brainchild of Javier C. and Alex Ladd, the principals in DVSX, and Roy Karch, president of Empire Video Distributors.

Javier C. formerly worked for VCA Pictures and Elegant Angel, while Ladd comes from a background of producing and directing for companies such as Sin City and Metro. Karch, not to be confused with another similarly named adult industry figure, built Empire Video Distributors from the ground up.

Two other partners, Ed Kail, sales manager for DVSX, and Adam Jay, named head of production for XCartel, also join in on the formation of the new company.

Karch called the combination of all the partners’ talents and expertise “the perfect marriage” of their combined professional backgrounds.

According to Ladd, the three partners birthed the idea with the intention of combining their company assets to provide a service to directors who want more control over their product.

“We’ve run into a lot of extremely talented directors who want to control their own destiny,” Ladd said. “But they don’t necessarily have the expertise in sales, marketing and distribution. With XCartel, they can concentrate their energies on doing what they do best – making movies – and we can do the heavy lifting on their behalf.”

While not divulging the distribution agreements XCartel will have with its directors and producers, the partners are aiming for adult content of “the highest quality,” and will issue their first inaugural releases later this month, starting with interracial gangbang title “Bangin’ White Hos” from director Bobby Manila’s Climax 9 Productions, and “Lesbian Training” from Penetration Video and director Jordan.

“XCartel is the perfect name for us,” Javier C. said. “It’s all about independent individuals coming together, united in a common cause.”
